Our Award Winning Building
The Discovery Center is a wonderful place where my child has been able to grown and learn. I couldn't have asked for a better setting or better teachers.
The Discovery Center operates in an award-winning building designed specifically to house our program and to meet the needs of young children and their families and teachers. The building was constructed for us in 1984 and was renovated and expanded in 2003, and we expanded and upgraded our outdoor space in 2019.
The innovatively-designed 9,200 square-foot building houses six classrooms of approximately 930 square feet each. Each classroom incorporates its own office with one-way observation windows, outside playground, and bathroom facilities designed for children. The classrooms are identified by color. The Orange Room hosts a morning program with options to stay for lunch and the early afternoon. The Yellow Room houses our transitional program option that incorporates elements of a preschool program, young 5s program, and kindergarten. The Red, Green, Blue, and Purple Rooms offer full-day preschool programs.
The building also has a 1,200 square-foot large motor classroom (known as the Rainbow Room) with indoor gym equipment. The outdoor playgrounds incorporate innovative features, and our woodland nature area offers opportunities for further outdoor exploration.
The building's spacious lobby is used for weekly Spanish lessons and monthly music and bi-monthly storytelling sessions conducted for the children by local professionals. The lobby also serves as the location for special events for children and their families.
